Job Description

AXOLOT CENTER Mental Health Counseling is seeking dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapists (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PsyD) to join our group practice in Alhambra, CA. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various therapeutic modalities and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality mental health care. The selected candidates will provide therapeutic services to clients experiencing a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. The in-person and virtual/remote therapy sessions will be provided to minors and adults according to the candidate's scope of practice and through evidence-based practices. Bilingual proficiency with Spanish recommended for some cases. This is a W2 position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine clients' mental health needs.
  • Provide individual, couples, or family counseling sessions utilizing various therapeutic techniques and EBP's.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances, including crisis intervention strategies when necessary.
  • Offer specialized counseling services in areas such as grief counseling, mindfulness, interpersonal counseling, PTSD care, and behavioral therapy.
  • Maintain accurate clinicial documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complete documentation, billing, and assigned tasks according to indicated timelines.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care and effective case management.
  • Engage in in-person or telehealth sessions as needed to provide accessible mental health services.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings with clinical director.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • License issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and valid BBS number in good standing required. (LPCC, LMFT, LCSW, PsyD)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in inpatient or outpatient settings.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation.
  • Previous experience with child, teen & family counseling, crisis management, and behavior management is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in art therapy or play therapy techniques is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Understanding of psychopharmacology and its implications for patient care.
  • Strong in understanding the signs, symptoms, and impact of trauma.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse multicultural backgrounds—including varied gender identities, faith traditions, and immigration histories—is highly valued.
