Counseling professionals have multiple avenues to apply their interpersonal, people-centered, cultural competencies. One such area is the field of consulting. Counselors typically have specialty areas such as working with children with autism, first generation college students, gifted and talented children in public schools, and more. From a school-based or social service agency setting, counselors can apply their skills in a specialty consulting practice. This workshop will describe the parallel skills between counseling and consulting practice. Also to be described are the culture-centered consulting framework, and process consultation skills. Objectives: 1. To list counseling skills one applies most often. 2. To list the skills (i.e., communication, problem solving) most often applied by consultants. 3. To gain knowledge about culture-centered and process consultation skills. 4. To identify a specialty focus or area of expertise. 5. To prepare a work plan outlining how one’s counseling skills can be applied in a specialty consulting area. 6. To identify consulting skills in need of attention.
Zoom link will be available on course page in “My Courses” upon event registration.
