This 90-minute webinar will explore how spirituality can be thoughtfully and ethically integrated into clinical hypnosis. For many clients, spirituality is a central part of identity and meaning-making, and when invited into the therapeutic process, it can become a powerful resource for healing and growth. The session will begin with an overview of key considerations in faith integration, including how psychology and spirituality can complement one another in clinical work. Attention will be given to ways that spiritual traditions, practices, and imagery may inform the use of hypnosis in a manner that honors client values and promotes whole-person care. Most of the examples in my presentation will include elements of Christian faith and practice, as my clinical experience has been largely with Christian patients and communities. I will also include examples of imagery and practices from other faith traditions, to show the broader reach of this integration of spirituality and hypnosis. The second portion will highlight a clinical case example, illustrating how hypnosis was applied in the treatment of phobia and chronic pain. The case will walk through assessment, case conceptualization, and the collaborative development of hypnotic suggestions that incorporated spiritual imagery. This example will also address common concerns clients may raise about hypnosis in the context of their faith, modeling ways to navigate these conversations with sensitivity and confidence. Throughout the webinar, participants will be invited to contribute ideas, reflections, and potential faith-informed suggestions in the chat to foster shared learning. The session will conclude with a brief Q&A, offering space to clarify concepts and consider applications to clinical practice.
