Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), We want you for our team!

Seeking highly driven, professional associate therapist to join our team. We are a group private practice that is growing! We are committed to approaching work with all clients from the lens of cultural humility and identity-affirming practices. Our population niches include the BIPOC community, Queer & LGBT+ Community, and Couples and Adult Individuals across California.

Associate Therapists will: Develop their abilities in diagnosis and use of various intervention techniques, learn how a private practice is run and collaborate with other associate therapists in a group practice setting.

Supervision will be provided – Individual/Triadic and Group. Must be willing and able to meet for biweekly Group Supervision done remotely on Tuesdays 4-6 pm and biweekly/weekly Individual Supervision will be scheduled as deemed best for Supervisor. Complete intake assessments, progress notes, discharge paperwork in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines through an electronic health record system.

Learn how a private practice is run and develop skills in marketing and retaining clients.

W-2 Employee, Full Time position (32-35 hours minimum). Must be able to work at least 2 evenings a week OR 1 evening/1 weekend day. Must carry a minimum caseload of 28-33 clients a week (not including supervision requirements). Telehealth and in-person (one day in-person required in Irvine office). ***Please note, it can take up to 3 months to get up to a caseload of 25+ clients, therefore you would start as part time and work up to full time over the course of employment.***

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES

Be prompt and timely to all appointments.  

Good, clear communication around any safety concerns – alert your supervisor of any cases where you had to safety plan due to concerns of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or homicidal ideation.

Keep up to date with your documentation and make sure it is written to the best standard of care.

Practice therapy ethically and legally according to the BBS and CA Laws. Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times.

Report any employee whom you feel is not acting ethically or legally to management

Report your time worked honestly and true to hours spent working

Work to maintain client confidentiality, except where mandated reporting is required. 

Conduct clinical evaluations, bio-psycho-social assessments, client diagnosis and progress notes. Prepare client-centered treatment plans, case management, consultation, education, and referrals as needed.

Provide therapeutic interventions to individuals, couples, and families as needed and facilitate individual psychotherapy sessions and group therapy (if provided).

Provide services within the scope of practice of a AMFT/LMFT.

Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess client’s functioning within work, family, and routines of daily living and identify areas needing continued support, resources, and treatment.

Develop, implement, and maintain partnerships with other community providers.

Maintain Electronic Health Records to reflect course of treatment and provide required documentation.

Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed. Expeditiously discharge inactive clients and updated documentation accordingly.

Provide emergency services during work hours and after hours if needed.

Attend staff meetings, supervisory meetings, training, and other activities, which ensure effective and efficient functioning of clinical operations.

Exercise awareness in cultural humility, client satisfaction, quality of services, client needs, and overall health and safety of staff and clients.

Build case load through self-promotion, networking, and minimal supervisor referrals.

Provide one day of in person sessions with clients in our Irvine, CA office space.

Must feel comfortable working with adults, couples, LGBTQI+, and BIPOC communities.

Must be able to maintain an active AMFT licensed and complete all required CEUs needed to sustain your license.

Skills & Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  

Must be registered with the BBS as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and have an assigned number (must be able to provide proof at time of employment)

Must have liability insurance or be able to obtain at own expense at time of employment.

Must have 1 year of (internship) experience working in the mental health field minimum.

Language preference (but not required): Spanish or other bilingual abilities

Compensation: $28 per hour
