We prioritize inclusive practices and serve a diverse client base, particularly focusing on LGBTQIA+ individuals, marginalized communities, and those navigating complex trauma. Our clinicians embrace a person-centered, evidence-based approach, committed to offering compassionate and culturally sensitive care.

The Practicum Student Clinician will be responsible for providing virtual mental health counseling under the supervision of licensed clinicians. This role is ideal for a graduate-level student in psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields seeking hands-on clinical experience in an inclusive and affirming environment. The practicum student will engage with clients in individual and group therapy settings, participate in weekly supervision, and collaborate with the clinical director to deliver high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide virtual individual and/or group therapy sessions to clients, maintaining a caseload of 5-10 clients per week.
  • Conduct intake assessments, case conceptualizations, and treatment planning under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment plans, in accordance with TheraQ’s policies.
  • Engage in weekly supervision meetings, receiving guidance on clinical skills, ethics, and professional development.
  • Attend virtual team meetings and case consultations, contributing to clinical discussions and shared learning.
  • Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and ethical standards in all client interactions.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities and professional development workshops provided by TheraQ.

Skills & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • Completion of foundational coursework in psychotherapy/counseling and clinical skills (e.g., therapeutic modalities, ethics).
  • Commitment to providing affirming and inclusive care to diverse populations, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, BIPOC communities, and those affected by trauma.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills in a virtual work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team setting.
  • Proficiency in using telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems (training will be provided).
