Job Description

Authentic Alliance, A Licensed Clinical Social Worker Professional Corporation is currently taking applications for Pre-Licensed Associate Therapists in California

We are seeking therapists to be a part of an LGBTQIA+ -focused mental health practice where clinicians provide telehealth services.  We welcome therapists who have an interest in working with youth, as well as those who have an adult focus. The practice is also open to therapists who enjoy working with polyamorous and/or clients in the kink community.  The ideal candidates would build and maintain a full-time caseload under supervision. We are open to employing therapists who are based anywhere in California. We have an in-person site in Oakland, CA. We prefer each of our therapists to run at least one telehealth or in-person therapy group.

We are especially interested in hiring associates who have a specific interest in providing psychotherapy related to work with gender diverse clients. The practice owner and primary supervisor, Lisette Lahana, LCSW (LCS #23663) is a seasoned gender therapist and has 25 years of experience serving sexual minorities, transgender, non binary people and their loved ones.  Our practice has an established administrative structure, intake coordinator,  and offers competitive compensation.   Pre-Licensed associate therapists must work a minumum of 10 clinical hours, take home 40% of their client fees, and $20/non clinical hour.  Therapy group fees received by associate are higher and depend on number of group members and fees.   After one year of employment, take part in our 401K plan with up to 3.5% match and staff education opportunities.  Depending on caseload numbers, we will contribute up to $200/mos. health insurance premium reimbursement.

As a gender therapist in our practice you will have access to an established network of gender therapists through the practice owner, a monthly gender therapist consult group with therapists from all over the country and 10 group mentorship hours towards WPATH Certification provided.

We handle the business maintenance so you can focus on supporting your clients. As we are a newly established group practice, you’ll have an important role in building our practice’s supportive team culture and professional reputation. We are primarily a self-pay based practice but will be seeing some limited insurance clients. Therapists can expect that building a self-pay caseload often take time, as well as the licensed therapist’s partnership with the practice’s marketing efforts.

In addition to client hours, therapists should expect to dedicate 2-5 hours each week for documentation, supervision (if applicable), case management, marketing, meetings or educational trainings (paid at non-clinical rate). Staff will have a role in choosing monthly educational topics, focused on trans and queer mental health, trauma and evidence based care.

You must already have your ASW # to begin working in a private practice setting in California.

Authentic Alliance strives to provide services to our diverse community in California. We are establishing a team that reflects the identities of the clients we serve. All interested individuals, but especially those who identify as BIPOC, neurodivergent, disabled, transgender, intersex, and/or non binary, are urged to apply. Bilingual therapists are encouraged to apply.

We are a trauma-informed practice and prefer our clinicians to have experience with at least one trauma therapy (Eg. EMDR, Brainspotting or Cognitive Processing Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Pronlonged Exposure Therapy,or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
