Job Description

Seeking a motivated and hard working AMFT with at least 1200 hours already under their belt to join our small private practice in Pasadena, CA. We focus on ADHD, anxiety, and depression in teens, adults and couples. 

This is a fabulous opportunity to learn all the ins and outs of private practice - how to market yourself, turn inquiries into active clients, handle insurance, communicate with clients, and juggle your own case load. Once licensed you'll be able to seamlessly transition to your own practice, taking your clients with you.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate, and ethical treatment to adults, adolescents, and couples in person and telehealth
  • Develop and implement treatment plans using appropriate modality that address clients’ unique needs and goals (with Supervisor’s guidance), with particular focus on ADHD, anxiety, depression
  • Provide ongoing clinical assessment for risk factors with crisis intervention and support when needed
  • Communicate with, and schedule, your own clients (weekends and evening availability required)
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments using Supervisor’s electronic health records software - Simple Practice (paid training provided)

Requirements:

  • Able to see teen and adult clients, and couples, in person in Pasadena
  • Have a genuine interest in helping clients with ADHD, anxiety and depression
  • Ideally have accumulated at least 1200 hours towards licensure
  • Must be able to work up to, and maintain, a caseload of 7-15 sessions per week
  • Must have own private space, computer, and wifi to hold telehealth sessions at home if required
  • Must be able to see clients at least one afternoon / evening per week and Saturday and/or Sunday morning
  • Must be prepared to conduct your own marketing and networking efforts to build referrals (with supervisor support) by creating your own website and joining online referral sites, such as Psychology Today

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining good standing with the appropriate professional board entities
  • Completing and maintain all required continuing education requirements for specific licensure and specializations.

Skills & Experience

  • A good track record in building therapeutic alliance quickly with clients and keeping clients long term.
  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of individual and family systems and their impact on mental health within the family.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of ADHD - symptoms and treatment, though training will be provided if required. However a genuine interest in treating ADHD is essential.
  • Committed to staying informed about current therapeutic techniques, interventions, and best practices in the field of marriage and family therapy.
  • Able to demonstrate expertise in various treatment methodologies and modalities that are suitable for treating ADHD, anxiety, and depression.
