Job Description

Blue Chair Family Therapy (private practice setting) is hiring a child/adolescent/family and adult/family/couples associate clinical mental health therapist to aid and expand the therapeutic team! Your position is vital to help the team become more efficient and grow our company.

Blue Chair Family Therapy is a Southern California-based, woman and minority owned company committed to providing the best mental health care to our South Bay and California clients. Blue Chair Family Therapy is a new mental health start-up that strives to provide care to children, teens, adults, couples, and families needing to bring everlasting healing to their lives. Blue Chair Family Therapy team provides a “therapeutic concierge” approach, by serving the whole family and allowing for healing to occur within the family system. We provide individual counseling, process groups, and couples therapy.

***There is a base pay and a commission option for employees after 90 days of employment.

Minimum Requirements:

● Master’s degree required in Clinical Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling

● Registered as an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and current, unrestricted registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences

  • Minimum 500 hours

● Experience providing mental health services requiring diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning and crisis intervention, as well as providing the various modalities of therapy

  • Trained in EFT or EMDR 

● Must be able to document in a clear and concise manner in accordance with program standards

● Experience using an electronic Health System (EHS), (preferred Simple Practice), No DMH documentation

● Experience, training, and/or strong interest in working with clients presenting with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, disruptive behavior, substance-abuse, etc.

● Population served: Preschool Children 2-4 years old, School-aged children ages 4 to 18, and adolescents, faith-based clients (Christian, Catholic, Spiritual) LGBTQIAS2+ clients, South Bay families, adults, families, and couples.

Key Responsibilities

● Work collaboratively with clients and the clinical team to develop a comprehensive assessment, treatment plan and desired treatment outcomes

● Provide evidence-based interventions and evidence-based practices

● Maintain clients’ records related to assessment, treatment, progress toward goals and objectives, discharge summary, and treatment outcomes that are accurate, concise, timely, and useful for coordinating treatment team planning, monitoring, and review

● Maintains a minimum of 15 hours of billable time per week (part-time); this position can become full-time 26+ billable hours (w/health benefits, etc.)

● Participate in virtual staff meetings (monthly Friday's 12pm-1pm), supervision (individual/triadic Varies times based on supervisor), attend EMDR or EFT consultation and make recommendations as appropriate

2 Schedules:

  • Mon/Wed/Fri In-Person (2 days 10am-7pm) & Fri 9am-2pm; Other days can be virtual 
  • Mon/Wed/Sat In-Person (1 days 10am-7pm) Saturday hours can vary; Other days can be virtual 
  • Weekend Only Therapist (Sat and/or Sun) 

***Hybrid schedule is based on room availability

● Seek guidance and remain knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable federal and state laws, as well as company policies that apply to assigned duties

● Follow the company’s and Board of Behavioral Sciences’ (BBS) expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct

● Follow all Blue Chair Family Therapy and professional guidelines (AAMFT, CAMFT, NASW, APA)

Skills & Experience

  • Associates who speak Spanish will have a pay differential.
  • One or more years of previous experience working with children and families
  • Preferred play therapy and sandtray experience
  • EMDR trained (or will be trained by the first month of start of position)
  • or EFT trained (or will be trained by the first month of start of position)
