Job Description

Affirming Psychological Services (APS) is seeking a full-time Associate Therapist (AMFT, ASW, or APCC) to join our insurance-based group practice in Irvine, CA. We provide LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed care to children, adolescents, and adults.

This position is designed to be your primary professional role, not supplemental work. We are seeking clinicians who want to build and sustain a full caseload within a structured, high-demand practice.

We are hiring for an immediate opening and are seeking candidates who can begin within 2–4 weeks.

Full-time at APS is defined as 22 or more completed client sessions per week. Most clinicians schedule 25 or more sessions to account for cancellations. Due to steady referral volume, new clinicians typically fill within 3–5 weeks.

Compensation is $39.24 per hour. We pay the same hourly rate for all hours worked, including clinical services, documentation, and supervision. We do not use a lower administrative rate.

Example annual income ranges:

  • 22 clients seen per week: approximately $55,000 to $58,000

  • 24 clients seen per week: approximately $60,000 to $63,000

  • 30 clients seen per week: approximately $74,000 to $77,000

This is a hybrid position based in Irvine, CA 92614, with both in-office and telehealth services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults

  • Conduct intake assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations

  • Develop and implement treatment plans consistent with best practices and DSM-5-TR criteria

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation

  • Deliver services via telehealth and in-office formats

  • Collaborate with supervisors and participate in required supervision

  • Uphold HIPAA standards and ethical guidelines

  • Contribute to an affirming clinical environment for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients

Skills & Experience

  • Current California registration as AMFT, ASW, or APCC

  • Commitment to LGBTQIA+ affirming and trauma-informed care

  • Experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations

  • Working knowledge of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria

  • Comfort working in an insurance-based practice model

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a consistent caseload of 22 or more sessions per week

  • Experience with telehealth platforms preferred

  • Clear, professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset

 

  • Ability to begin within 2–4 weeks
